Lots of people want to give the past a more "progressive" feel like the present. Its a culturally founded one and i'm okay with that. I don't believe its a historically founded design choice. At least if we're discussing the purely historical merits of this design choice. Thats very cool but i'm not sure where you're going with this? The fact that women could own property in pre-roman Sparta (which is almost a thousand years before the setting of Atttila, even if it mattered) or the fact that a few isolated archaeological burials could be interpreted as female warrior burials (even though that is shaky too) hardly justifies the inclusion of almost a third of some units being female.
